A Little Bit About Me...

I was raised by deaf parents. With that said, I have been interpeting for my parents since I was a baby. I also interpet for patients at my clinic when an interpeter is not available. I am currently enrolled in the certification program to obtain my ASL certification so I can help students/patients/clients get the learning, or interpetion they need to get across.

My comments on tutoring Sign Language : My primary source of communication

Relaxed, fun, easy going, comfortable.
I am currently an ASL instructor at a deaf school, I teach the community and I am looking to help others improve their sign language and also gain experience for myself. I truly enjoy teaching and helping others who are motivated to learn. I use American Sign Language as my primary source for communication, I grew up at a deaf school and come from a deaf family, I am also hard of hearing with a 6th generation of hearing loss in my family.

American Sign Language Teacher for 30+ years. In college/universities. Currently an ASL Teacher at White Bear Lake, MN Psychiatric Social Worker for 25 years. Not currently in practice. I worked in St. Peter Regional Treatment Center with Severe Persistent Mental Ill deaf adults. After this, I worked at MN State Academy for the Deaf for five years as a transition coordinator, working with K-12 students in their transition planning, in compliance with their Individual Educational Plan.
Target language used in classrooms, using naturally method. Teach in ASL without using English.

My comments on tutoring Sign Language : I have 4 years of varied experience to help you with learning the basics of American Sign Language. I have been through a local training college and have volunteered around the Twin Cities. Experience working with adults and kids.

I have finished interpreting classes at Saint Paul College and am currently volunteering in the Twin Cities area. Within the last 4 years I have gained considerable knowledge about the Deaf community, sign language, and the variety of ways it is used in society. American Sign Language is an up and coming language. Even if you only know the basics, this will help you experience a different culture right here in the U.S.
I prefer to meet in public places, libraries are a great place since ASL is very quiet.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I have completed level 4 at the U of M- Duluth and Saint Paul College. Currently I am enrolled in the Interpreting program at Saint Paul College.

I have tutored for American Sign Language levels 1-2 at the University of Minnesota-Duluth for two semesters. I helped students with sentence structure and learning signs. I often use games such as hangman and apples to apples to help with remembering signs. I am currently enrolled in the interpreting program at Saint Paul College.
I help with grammar and often play word games.
