I am a certified Business/Technology teacher. I am currently teaching at Urbana High School. In the past, I have taught 5th-8th grade Spanish, Mathematics and high school level Spanish I, II, III. In terms of Mathematics, I have taught middle school Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry at the high school level.
I believe in real world application lessons and problem-solving techniques. My goal is to help the student not only get the right answer, but be able to answer the question why.

I love teaching and interacting with students of all ages and ability levels. I believe that each person is unique and receives information in a unique way. Tutoring should be a joint process of discovering a student's learning style and tailoring information so that the student is able to learn and thrive. In my opinion, teaching should focus on the individual strengths of the learner and not just their challenges. I have assisted a number of students; Grades 1-12 as well as college-aged and continuing education in various math and science courses. My previous career included 27 years in the television industry at various local production facilities in Oklahoma, Texas, Maryland as well as the Washington DC bureau of the ABC Network. I love tutoring all ages, and find that adults, while a bit harder to reach in the beginning are usually the most enjoyable to work with.
I like to take the "mystery" out of the subject. Math can be especially scary to students who don't have a strong foundation in general mathematics and reading comprehension.
