My comments on tutoring Microsoft Excel : I have been using and teaching Microsoft Excel for twenty years.

Have been tutoring for twenty years, and have also taught on a college level for ten. I have taught in a variety of contexts, such as one-on-one, kid's day camp, online and ongoing workshops. My comments on tutoring Microsoft Excel : Business computing class.

I have helped tutor AVID high school students when I was a senior at Cherry Creek High School. I enjoy helping the kids learn and believe that being a tutor would pay it forward since I had so much help from tutors. I always helped my friends out because I was in higher level classes than them some of the times. I also worked with tutors and know how much of a difference they can make. I'm currently studying at CSU and still work with friends on homework if they need help.
I believe in success. There is no guarantee someone will learn on the first try. It's all about enjoying the learning experience and positive reinforcement. I also believe in humor and think that it can help a lot in peoples difficult situations.

An enthusiastic tutor with a PhD in chemistry!

I have found through my 6 years of teaching students, that flexibility is a key component. Explaining a difficult concept to a student should be customized to each individual students' needs. I encourage students to always ask questions even if they think they are stupid. Everyone has to ask those questions at some point in their career! I love helping people. I believe that no one is stupid just some people are better in some areas than other people. I enjoy helping people learn because I love seeing the "light bulb click on above their head" when they finally grasp a concept. I try to simplify the subject (or put it in terms the student will grasp) so the student will understand it, thus my teaching method depends on how the student learns.
I worked as a tutor all through college at Iowa State University. I tutored Math (up through Trig), general and organic chemistry, and statistics 101. A Little Bit About Me...

I am an active teacher. I want students to understand the subject in the context of their own lives as opposed to just learning definitions. If they can realate the information to an actual happening, they are more likely to remember. In terms of test preparation, aside from learning the information it is important to work on test-taking skills (relaxation, focus, etc.).
