I have experience tutoring math over the last 4 years. I have been in the high level math classes throughout my entire life. I am a very thorough when i teach and make sure the student understands the material before moving on. I am extremely patient and make sure I move at a speed that the student understands. I have never tutored in other subjects but am comfortable with doing so.

I greatly enjoy teaching. Much of my style is entertaining and process oriented in nature. Story, metaphor and an understanding of the student having “the idea before the subject being taught” are vital. For me, the underlying concepts are of vital importance before true learning can occur. Knowing what a “mammal” is comes before knowing how we classify “mammals”. Generally, I am able to meet students where they are and utilize “foreword chaining” learning styles with frequent, non boring interactions to progress learning. Rote memory rarely works, but pneumonic, metaphor and story often do. I am very aware of differing learning styles, as well as differing modalities (visual, auditory, kinetic) of learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I was trained and worked as a Master Tutor to pay my way through both my associate's and my bachelor's degrees' schooling, tutoring math subjects from algebra to biometrics and statistics, and English (academic) writing skills. I taught developmental math at a community college and math for elementary school teachers at a four-year teacher's college, both in New York State, for five years. I taught various psychology subjects at a vocational school and a community college, both associated with the University of Montana, for two years. A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my life I have tutored many individuals that have crossed my path. As a father and working professional, I have always tried to pass along my knowledge to those that would benefit. A well trained associate is better for all concerned. I currently tutor algebra for 6th grade students.
My teaching style varies for each individual student. To see a struggling student smile when they finally grasp a concept is very rewarding. I make my students think and do the work. The only way to grasp hard business and math concepts is through repetition and patience.
