Currently teach high school English and have also taught middle school Language Arts and College Level English classes. I have 15 years of experience teaching students at all ages and all ability levels. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Master's Degree in Teaching. I am certified and highly qualified to teach English and History at the 6-12 grade level (and college). I am also certified and highly qualified to teach students with Emotional Impairments and Learning Disabilities. A great deal of my teaching career has been spent educating students in lock-down juvenile detention settings. I built my reputation on the fact that I take the jobs many other teachers find too challenging. In addition to teaching I also have a background in professional broadcasting and news writing.

I am a retired teacher with over 38 years of teaching both children and adults with diverse backgrounds. I have a BA and Masters degree in Education with an endorsement in ESL/Bilingual Education. I was a reading coach for 8 years where I taught teachers the best practices in teaching reading. I have taught every grade level and including college level. The last 4 years I have taught international students in an intensive English language program at a college level. I am passionalte about writing and have taught in K-12 for over 10 years. I have vast experience teaching writing at both high school and college level. I currently teach Composition classes at our local community college. I understand what is required of students to be successful in both high school and college. I teach journalism/yearbook currently at my high school and I occasionally work in the writing center at the local college, working 1 on 1 with students. I can help your student get on track for high school, or help them achieve better skills in their college endeavors. My teaching style is relaxed. Students like how I am able to make writing fun with exercises to build their confidence, and improve their choice of words and clarify what they are trying to say.
