Italian Tutor

I am still a senior in High School, but I have studies Italian for three years and during my junior year I lived in Italy for nine months, attending Liceo Classico e Linguistico Ruggero Settimo. I took the AP italian exam, receiving a 5, and I am currently the assistant to my Italian teacher. I am really passionate about the Italian language and culture, and I really enjoy teaching it to others.

Italian is one of my top subjects! I learned Italian by immersing myself in the language; I lived in Italy for four years total. For my first year in Italy I lived with a host family, I ended up loving it so much that I decided to go to college in Italy and it is there where I got my bachelors degree in languages. I have excellent pronunciation and am fluent and would be a wonderful teacher since I know what it takes to learn Italian starting from zero!

Ever since 2005 I have been focused on learning new languages and traveling. It all began in 2005 when I left as a Rotary Exchange Student to live with a host family in Italy. I did not speak a word of Italian but by the time I came home a year later I was fluent. Then I decided to get my Bachelors degree in Italy in Language Mediation and Cultures, I majored in Spanish and Russian, and all of my classes and coursework was in Italian. For my fourth year of college in Italy I won a scholarship to study in Spain for a year and this is when I mastered Spanish. While in Europe for college I was a private English tutor for four years. With my background in learning languages and tutoring, I feel that I would be a great and fun tutor!

A Little Bit About Me...

Education stands atop my own list of the most important plights of mankind. I believe people are at their highest capacity for learning when they are children, and that such open minds should be given the resources to grow and educate themselves. I am very patient and persistent in my methods. I think teaching is an art of framing the student's mind so that they find themselves more engaged in the world through expression and description of it from the human language perspective (whether numerical or verbal). I get along well with kids and as long as the student I am working with has an attitude of openness, I am sure that it will be a successful, possibly even fun, experience.
