My comments on tutoring Piano : Was in band and other musical groups in school. Took piano lessionas as a kid.

While in College I was a part time nanny for a single Mom with twins. I started taking care of the twins when they were 2 and continued until they were almost 4. I was an assistant teacher part time at little playmates preschool daycare. During my time there I worked with the 2 and 3 year old class and the 4 and 5 year old class. I also helped the older children with homework. I was responsible for helping with meals, playtime and supervising outside activities. I also volunteered at the learning tree center daycare preschool where I helped with story time and art activities. I was a religious education teacher from 2003 to 2004. I have been teaching piano and bass guitar to students for almost 10 years. I am a 4.0 student who has mastered the ability to study efficiently. In 2010, I was awarded a teaching assistantship at the University of New Mexico where I was asked to teach 2 undergraduate classes in communication. However, I rejected this position as I accepted a Master's program at a different University, but underwent the training required for TA's at UNM.
I believe that students learn best in an environment that promotes encouragement and relational interaction with their tutors. While I believe in creating a stress free, fun environment, I believe in helping students set their own rigorous goals. I am skilled at helping students create plans that help them achieve the goals they have in their education. I have spent 12 years volunteering as a tutor at the elementary school level. I have helped students in the areas of reading, writing, and math. I worked with a number of great teachers who taught me ways of reaching students to help them gain increased skill levels. I have also been playing piano all my life and have taught beginning piano. Music brings me joy and I love sharing that joy with my students.
I pride myself on being a very patient, caring person and love seeing children learn and have their eyes opened as to the possibilities that are there for them. I am a very patient teacher and truly enjoy finding the best ways to explain difficult concepts in a simple manner. I am also very easy-going and considerate in my methods. If my students finds one way of explaining a concept difficult to understand, I always try to think of another way to explain it. I feel that, if given time and practice, anyone can learn anything, and I'm willing to invest that time into somebody if they're willing to take the time to learn and practice.
