Physics is one of my top subjects! Have completed PhysicsI-III, Modern and Classical

In my experience as a student, I have often questioned the teaching methods of many teachers and professors. I sometimes realize more effective ways things could be explained, once I understand it. I am patient and sympathetic with those who misunderstand a concept. I enjoy the challenge of applying my ability to explain a topic from multiple angles of comprehension.
I was raised on a farm in Iowa and attended school there until I was 13. In Zephyrhills, Fl, I was awarded valedictorian status for the class of '09. This is a rigorous five-year program and is focused upon the engineering and physics involved in space systems. I remain in the Honor's Program and on the Dean's List. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that an instructor’s primary role is to create an environment that encourages a real desire to learn by presenting the subject matter in a way that is interesting to the student and by striving to make it make it relevant to their lives. It is my role as an instructor to take abstract concepts and breathe life into them and make them real to the student. I think that it is important to understand and be constantly aware that different people learn in different ways. Because of this, I feel that it is important that an instructor uses a wide range of teaching methods in order to give each student the best opportunity to learn and understand the material.

More About This Tutor...

As a tutor I provided academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individually. Establish a working rapport with the teacher and/or work under the teacher's direction, if necessary to assist the student. I was responsible for maintaining records on each student who is being tutored, including follow-up and periodic assessment. Evaluations and other reports as requested by the program director helped students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying. Students in turn developed self-confidence, raise self-concept, and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in their academic work.
In addition to my bachelors of science degree in biology, I recently earned a master's degree in business administration in 2009. I have 3 years of teaching experience in the classroom and over 2 years of experience substitute teaching and providing in home tutoring. I am passionat ... read more

Along with tutoring, I have also led clinics on learning styles and how to discover the ways you learn. Because of this, I am able to help a student who may not know the ways by which they learn best. I can not only help them discover effective study skills to use while alone, but I can adapt the way I teach however I need. My philosophy is to teach a student to become self-sufficient when it comes to studying and learning. The day a student no longer needs me is the day for which I strive.
During most of my time in college, I tutored my peers. Striving for degrees in Biology and Chemistry, I was required to take a wide range of math and science courses. Because of the wide range of classes I took, I was able to use what I learned to help others and break things down into a way they could understand. After sub teaching the last couple of years I have found most kids want to learn but need a lot of "structure". If their personal "structure" isn't there it is difficult for them. This is also true for kids who are advanced. I believe in no cell phones, electronic devices, and trying to figure out what each child strengths and weaknesses are and then use those strengths to help them learn. I am not against having background music playing during homework time because it doesn't bother other children. It is a problem however in the classroom.
I am currently waiting for my certification from the Florida Department of Education, to teach math from grades 6 to 12, and chemistry from grades 6 to 12. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from UNF in 1993 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in the field of Management. The degree required classes in Accounting, Finance, Algebra and Economics. Mathematics has risen to be one of my preferred subjects, tutoring this subject for a year to date.
I do believe that all children have the ability to learn the subjects however not all children are in the right mind to do so. My goal is to show in real world, understandable terms the subjects we will work on. I believe that if a child is explained the rules in terms and words he/she understands, then he/she will grasp the material and carry it with them into the future rather than trying to cram for an exam with no retention.

I am a very patient person and that is reflected in the way I teach. When I tutor in an individual basis I allow the student to do most of the writing that way the brain needs to process what it hears in order to write it down. I enjoy teaching Math and Science because I find them easy to learn. I find it very satisfying when I tutor someone and at the end I can tell that they have learned something, I find this to be one of the things I do best. My friends and family always praise me on the way I teach things.
I graduated from the University of Florida with a BS in Civil Engineering. During my years in College I worked as a tutor in the Math Lab, initially helping with math and science and later helping students with Spanish as well. At the Math lab I was a ‘floor tutor’ I had to walk around the lab and help students on as needed basis. I also had one-hour meetings with students. ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have two bachelors degrees, however, I believe it is my experience teaching children that has helped me develop a good sense on how to approaching teaching scenarios. I have years of experience teaching children in academics, music, and dramatic arts, as well as coaching basketball and teaching golf at the professional level.
Each child is different. I always try to notice and acknowledge what benefits each student, as I think this applies to all forms of teaching from academics to athletics. Getting on their level is what ultimately benefits the child from the get go and gains their interest. If I'm interested, then the child is interested. I do my best to make sure the child is setting their goals and doing their best to achieve them in the way and style for which they are best suited.

My experience is very much what your child's experience could be. I was raised with limited financial resources by a single parent in the state of Florida. I found classroom lessons catered to the "typical student" difficult. Fortunately, I had some wonderful teachers and a parent who encouraged me to persevere and learn about myself. I earned a full scholarship to complete my Chemical Engineering Degree at a Florida university. I would be honored to help your student reach his or her potential in the areas of mathematics, computer sciences, or physical sciences.
I believe that teaching is a process of helping students to discover their own learning potential. The learning experience is an adventure the parent, student, and I will embark on together. Each student has the ability to learn and excel through a process of building one's confidence, discovering one's learning sty ... read more
