I do believe that all children have the ability to learn the subjects however not all children are in the right mind to do so. My goal is to show in real world, understandable terms the subjects we will work on. I believe that if a child is explained the rules in terms and words he/she understands, then he/she will grasp the material and carry it with them into the future rather than trying to cram for an exam with no retention.

I was a substitute teacher in the Folsom Cordova School District in California during the 2007-2008 school year. Students do not grasp a concept in any subject until they actually experience success in solving a problem dealing with that concept. I try to relate well to and form good relationships with my students. I have learned through my own experiences and through UCF, various teaching styles; however, the most important element in my style is to listen and to adjust to each child and listen to his/her needs. I want them to understand the importance of the material and why they are learning it. I use a lot of positive reinforcement.

I was the first person in my family to attend college. I completed an engineering degree and competed athletically through my collegiate career. I finished school averaging over 18 hours I of course work per semester. I was a classic overachiever. My work ethic was passed to two sons who also finished college successfully and have gone on to successful work. I have coached track athletes as a hobby and as a high school volunteer coach off and on for over 40 years. I spent a year as a substitute high school teacher in South Carolina in 1993.
