A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is flexible to the student’s needs. Initially, I access at what level the student is currently performing and the best way they absorb information. My lesson plans are often individually tailored to the interests of the student. For instance, If I have a student who hates to read, I find reading material on a subject they do enjoy (such as Professional Wrestling). I enjoy introducing new subject matter, ideas and practical applications to add excitement to a lesson. For instance, in a session on factions, I may use measuring cups and baking tools so the student can have hands on comprehension. One of my many passions in life is working with kids, specifically tutoring them. I have found that it is easier to tutor a student when they know that they are surrounded by positivity. With this I am referring to the feeling of comfort and knowing that it's ok to be wrong. I notice more confidence in my students when I establish a friendship with them. In addition to this, letting my students know that even at different ages, we can still relate to one another. What is needed? I like an inclusive interactive style that directly involves the learner. I like to evaluate performance in a varety of methods to determine actual learning. As a University Instructor I was known for being fun, approachable and honest and a hard grader.
I have taught 4 upper division business courses at the University of Arizona: Management and Organizational Behavior, strategy (Eller capstone course Management Policies), business environments and employment law (The Legal, Political and Social Environments of Business), and statistics (Statistical Inferences in Management). I left a Ph.D. program in Organizational Behavior (think Management)with a MS to care for family. I have been a substitute teacher for K-8th grade. I have followed a successful 12+ year career in Human Resource Management and now own my own HR Consulting firm.
