I've gained experience with teaching in an array of ways. Firstly, I'm a recent graduate from BYU-Idaho in Piano Performance earning my Bachelor of Musical Arts. Throughout my training as a professional pianist I studied piano pedagogy and now have a functioning piano studio of my own. In addition, I was a music tutor and teachers assistant helping my fellow students grasp music theory concepts. Furthermore, I worked as a youth counselor at a summer camp called Outdoor Youth Activities (OYA) where we specialized in working with young teens. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University - Idaho where I am pursuing a degree in Biology with minors in Child Studies and Chemistry. This rigorous program has taught me the importance of fulfilling one's potential, the vitality of good study habits, as well as giving me an understanding of children and adolescents. The past two years I have participated in a youth summer program for high school-aged students. I believe in the Socratic Method. Through this tutoring method, the student is asked questions to help them develop understanding on their own. Through this discovery style, the students actually learn in ways that will be remembered most. I believe that any child, teenager, or adult can learn most effectively through their own discovery, with my help and guidance. I believe in strict adherence to deadlines and in follow up with students when I give assignments. Study sessions for the ACT will include timed sections and basic review of subject matter. I received high scores on the PSAT and ACT while in high school. I can provide proof of these if necessary. I received a 31 on the ACT (I would need to verify this, but I believe it is correct).
