I believe that all students can and will achieve academic success given appropriate instruction; i.e., instruction that is differentiated according to students' specific needs, learning styles, interests, and personal goals. My longest position was at University of Massachusetts, Lowell campus, (1993 through 2004, before moving to Florida), teaching 3 different levels of Freshman Chemistry. ACT, SAT and Math Tutoring from a top student

I prefer to work with motivated students. I enjoy one on one tutoring best, but I can work in a group setting. I think I am best at explaining concepts verbally. Particularly when I tutor math, I like to explain the reasoning and concepts behind what I am teaching, rather than encouraging rote memorization. For SAT and ACT prep, I think it is primarily a matter of explaining the structure of the test and teaching ways to address different questions. The content is important and I can teach that as well, but the key to high scores is familiarity with the layout of the test.
