After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.
Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.

My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : Methodical, left-brain training to better grasp math basics

I was a teaching assistant throughout high school. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi. I was selected to teach intensive intervention and pursued my Master’s degree with a concentration in remedial reading. During the past four years I have taught 2nd-adult English Language Learners and tutored K-adult students in all disciplines.

Elementary Math is one of my top subjects!

I am a early high school graduate in the early college program and I have excelled in math ever since I started schooling. I was in the MEGSSS program in middle school and finished all my credits required for math in high school by sophomore year and never achieved a grade lower then a B. For the past year now I have been tutoring a college student in math. She went from failing her math classes and having to retake them to passing the classes and understanding the material being given to her.
