My style of teaching music to students meets the Indiana State Music Standards, and Gardner's 9 Intelligences including the incorporation of various learning styles to fit the needs of each individual student. While working as a professional writer, I dedicated my free time to tutoring at a center for urban kids. Learning must be fun, especially in a tutoring context. In my previous tutoring experiences, I always attempted to turn tasks into games or opportunities for creative expression. I then write a prescription of study with the student that include several objectives and a timeline to achieve these goals. I have always enjoyed playing the piano. And I took extreme satisfaction from teaching piano. I would sit beside them while they played the pieces I had assigned to them to practice since the previous lesson. If they had problems or questions about something, I was there to help. We'd talk and laugh, and I hoped they learned through it all.
