Experience Summary
I have a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, and a Master of Arts Degree in Music Education from Ball State University. I have an Indiana Professional Teacher's License in all music levels.I have been a school music teacher for over 18 years, a music contest accompanist, private piano and instrumental teacher for over 15 years. I have served as a music contest judge. I was a 10 year member of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, a church choir director for 10 years and a music leader in church for over 20 years.
Music has always been an important part of my life, and I really enjoy sharing my love of music with my students, ages childhood through adulthood.
Teaching Style
I am an Indiana State licensed Music Teacher. My style of teaching music to students meets the Indiana State Music Standards, and Gardner's 9 Intelligences including the incorporation of various learning styles to fit the needs of each individual student. Your student will become knowledgeable in music theory, including music staff, time and key signatures, rhythmic and melodic studies, dynamics, and music symbols under my tutelage. I teach proper singing and instrumental playing techniques,and proper breath support and posture. I hope to inspire each student to learn and to enjoy music as a productive pastime into adulthood.
