I love tutoring and mentoring kids, period. It's spiriturally rewarding to me as an adult to have a part in a child's development. I believe every child is special. There's is no doubt in my mind that if a tutor approach is based on patience, quality time and empathy, he or she will be successful and effective. The latter mentioned characteristics has always been viewed by me as the hallmarks of tutoring. As a student I was privileged to experience bilingual and bicultural education. I attended a very prestigious American high school in Puerto Rico which prepared me for a competitive college career. I attended college at Drexel University as a Fashion Design student and further continued my education with a degree in Marketing from Interamrican University in Puerto Rico. After many years working in the business field I decided to follow my heart and became a Spanish teacher. Teaching became my passion and Spanish my favorite subject to teach. A Little Bit About Me...

Since I acquired language using primarily the conversational method, that is my basic approach to teaching. Of course there are the basics of grammar and syntax, style and such, all of which are necessary, but if you cannot open your mouth and produce an intelligible phrase, then what good is it to acquire another language? I approach this method through dialogue with my pupil - the Aristotelian method, if you will. I ask the questions, they provide the responses and I correct them on the points of grammar that are applicable to the extent situation. This, I believe, frames the lesson in a practical application, as opposed to mere rote memorization. It's the method that worked for me, so I believe in it and I use it.
