I firmly believe that every child is capable of learning hard concepts, they just have to be taught in a way that is applicable to them. So I first like to get to know the student and try to figure out their learning style and teach them according to how they learn. This helps me figure out where the root of the problem is so I can fix it. Then I like to use a lot of visual and hands-on lessons because children need that to really grasp concepts and to apply it in different situations. I am currently working on my Mild and Moderate teaching certification. My goal is to work with students with cognitive and specific learning disabilities. I recently completed a Reading, Writing and Math workshop through North Coast Educational Services, which has enabled me to learn different strategies and techniques to help students struggling in reading and math.
My teaching style is one that will allow the students to learn at their own level. I believe that each student's learning needs are unique and that the educator must be open and flexible to providing instruction that will meet the needs of all learners.
