Throughout high school, I had trouble trying to figure out what I wanted to do when I graduated. I took many classes that ranged from Weight Training to Biology. I took many Art classes in which I excelled at. I then took some Computer Technology classes and I loved it. So I figured I would put the two together and took Graphic Design classes. I loved it. I am very competent in using all sorts of Graphic Design programs. I got my first guitar around 8 years ago and just picked it up and learned it. I have been learning ever since. I was a natural born musician, started playing guitar at the age of 2. Later switched to piano and took formal lessons for 7 years. I have composed scores for several plays and small projects. I still compose music to this day. I gained an interest in French when I was in middle school. An in-depth education in Music Composition.

Since earning my Bachelors Degree from the University of Utah in Music Composition I have produced a Christmas album of piano arrangements, and original songs. I teach a classical base to all of my piano students. The method books Faber and Alfred are the books I use the most often. I supplement my teaching with ear training and pop music chord reading. I work with my students to achieve their musical goals whether it is to achieve a certain level of proficiency with classical performance, play a certain piece, or read from lead sheets.
I graduated from the University of Utah in Piano Performance in May 2007 with a 3.79 GPA and am fluent in Spanish. I have a very solid math background, so I know what concepts students should be learning at their age/level. Therefore, if the students don't have material prepared that they would like to study with me, I can quickly compose exercises for them to do. I ask a lot of questions and try to get the students to figure out the solutions themselves. When they get stuck I give subtle hints until the light bulb goes off. I often explain a concept and then have students watch me solve a problem, then have them do one themselves. I have not been a tutor for a few years, although I currently volunteer with the International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake by assisting program workers teach english speaking and reading skills to new refugee immigrant women.
I love teaching, but to students about 12 and older. I am able to relate and connect well with them, and let them learn and take pride in their progress.
