My comments on tutoring Journalism : I have a master's degree in English and have taught composition at a community college.

I believe in working with students, not talking at them. I ask lots of questions and make sure students retain the information and can apply it to the real world.
I have experience teaching at a two-year university and a two-year college, in composition, communications, and public speaking. I have also run an educational non-profit that works with students to set college and career goals. I hold a PhD in Educational Leadership. I am a hands on kind of teacher. I like to find ways to make teaching come to life and be a fun and enjoyable experience for the student. The more one on one I can be the better. I think you can be a better teacher when you know and understand your students more. I still maintain a great relationship with girls I counseled at camp back in 2001 and 2002. I began tutoring as a volunteer with the America Reads program in high school. I continued volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club during college. After an opportunity to assist a professor in administering a freshman course, I applied to teach high school in Pasco County. I taught world history and psychology for one year before returning to school for my Master of Arts degree in History. I continued tutoring on the side, but spent most of my time assisting professors in the Department of History at Winthrop University as a Graduate Assistant where I edited exams and papers for undergraduate students.
