College student looking to pursue growth in you and herself

My teaching style all depends on the subject and the student. Everyone learns differently. Unfortunately, the public school system seems to disagree with that. I begin by assessing the type of learner you are and from there I pick my teaching style.
I have experience in and outside of the classroom in all of the fields I listed. From a 4.0 G.P.A to sales office growth I have learned a lot and am eager to share my experience in order to help others. English is and will always be my favorite subject. I have done speech writing and presenting to essay competitions. God blessed me with a way with words and I have used it to excel in many areas of my life.

I have been teaching and tutoring students for over 10 years. I teach students up to grade 12. I have been working in Canada as a tutor and worked with dyslexic students as well. I taught math and excelled myself with a high gpa up to grade 12.
I always try to ask the student what they think they are weak in. Always try to change the teaching method so that the student does not fall in a routine every session. They sometimes decide on doing, for example, in math, inventing their own equation and participating in their own learning.

I have always found the learning process fascinating and feel that there is nothing more satisfying than helping someone master a new skill. I have observed that a good teacher can change lives and make the learning process a positive and empowering experience. I am a student of history and literature, which makes teaching and tutoring these subjects something I enjoy. I have published short stories, so I can guide students in exploring the importance of having language and grammatical skills to express themselves eloquently. I have tutored students in English (first and second language students),Literature, History, Geography, Art History, Art (drawing and Painting) and general reading and writing skills.
I strive to make the learning experience something that the student is eager to repeat. I want every student to feel comfortable, confident and capable of achieving huge success ... read more

I love working with children and am able to communicate with most in a way that produces a secure and encouraging environment. I am patient, easy going, and respect each child's right to express himself in an appropriate way. I believe each child can learn if he is given the appropriate materials, methods, and teacher for his style of learning.
My first teaching experience involved establishing a Title I Kindergarten classroom. Since that first few months of teaching, I have loved working with children at the kindergarten level and teaching them the basics of learning to read and prepare them for 1st grade. I have taken several classes from different universities in teaching reading and methods of teaching. I am a retired teacher, but continue to work with children through volunteer work.

Because I had such a hard time learning and focusing in a regimented, institutional-type learning setting in school, and yet was a brilliant child, I teach extremely well in a relational more relaxed approach. Rather than "shove information down throats" I am interested in each individual, and to get to know their personality and learning style. I have found that when there is relationship and trust between the mentor and the student, not only does the student learn the information more effectively, but as the mentor, I am able to teach and speak more clearly. Rather than lecturing or preaching at them about what I think life should be like for them, I take them hiking, out to eat, to movies etc.
I have always had a heart to help others become the best that they can be. For the last 2 1/2 years, I have been taking in troubled teens into my home and being directly involved in coachi ... read more

My teaching experience began at a Riverside County Probation Facility for Wards of the court in Banning California. I began there as a Building Maintainance Mechanic and worked my way up to a vocational education teacher. After that I worked at St. Johns School for boys in Cabazon California. While I lived in California I also worked at a Christian High School called Joshua Springs High School where I began teaching a free small wood Shop class and worked my way up to a regular teacher. In all these cases I taught multi-aged multi subjecr classes. When I moved to Arizona I worked for several years at Legacy School in Mesa. There I also taught multi-aged multi-subject classes.
My method is to reach students exactly where there at and use methods that would stimulate all types of learners . Once I was teaching a group of sixth graders who would be entering Algebra soon. I gave them a ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I find that students have their own unique style of learning. I also believe that by establishing a solid set of study skills while catering to individual techniques of the student, the learning process can grow and thrive. Therefore, I would combine my training in theatre and performance to make learning an enjoyable process. I have a very kind and patient disposition which helps foster a supportive learning environment. The most rewarding education comes from self-discovery and I firmly believe that the best teaching comes from this principle.
At this point in my professional career, I currently do not have any experience teaching in a formal classroom environment. However, my experience does extend into performance education, as I have three years experience working for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science in which I increased participation of general visitor and school ... read more
