I have worked with various needy students who have been classified as learning disabled, or those who know they are in need for assistance. My experiences vary, as I worked with older children in filling out applications for jobs and to prepare for jobs. I also, have worked with many adults on writing papers for college preparation or with helping their children on writing tasks. I have worked with young children on phonics and reading readiness. My teaching style is fun and engaging. You must find what engages a student. Everyone has a different learning style. My teaching style utilizes any and all manipulatives necessary to engage a student. I also review student data to determine what learning gaps exist. I have eighteen years of experience: ten at the missle school level, and eight at the high school level. My experience includes teaching "at-risk" students from a wide variety of backgrounds and situations. I have taught sheltered, regular Pre-AP and AP. In addition, I serve as the Social Studies Department Chair. I write curriculum, build after-school tutoring programs, and design effective professional development for my teachers.

I have been a substitute teacher for the last 7 years at Groesbeck ISD working mainly with the high school area, and some at the middle school. I also teach an adult student at a local plant working on his GED. I am the primary instructor there. I write for several online freelance article sites and am paid to do that as well. I have passed my EC-12 Special Education test and also my Generalist 4-8 and am considered Highly Qualified in those 2 areas. I hold a BA in Anthropology/Environmental Studies from Bryn Mawr College. I succeeded in Calculus level math and high level Economics courses. Since graduating, I have taken additional college courses in history and government. I have accumulated about 3 years of diverse teaching experiences. I recently spent 6 months as an interpretive Park Ranger at Mount Rushmore National Memorial. While in college, I worked at a community center tutoring elementary school children in math and reading after school.
