While working on my associates degree I tutored pre-calculus and statistics. I also worked briefly with catholic charities tutoring all subjects for high school students in need. I then completed my bachelors degree while tutoring part time at SUNY Oswego and independently with a high school student in Math and AP physics. I am currently working with that same H.S. student and now I am also working with a third grade student as well (also in math).
I enjoy sharing knowledge with anyone who can benefit from my experience. I love mathematics, statistics and physics and I attempt to pass that enthusiasm to my students. I understand that there are many people who have trouble with math and science skills and becaus of that I try to explain technical concepts with easy to understand examples before submercing the student into computations that are difficult. A Little Bit About Me...

I plan to graduate this June for my Ph.D. in Physics/Biophysics at Syracuse University. Since I have been a graduate student, I had an opportunity to be a teaching assistant to teach and tutor the undergraduate students from several departments including engineering, physics, and health science. I have an interdisciplinary background of basic subjects including biology, biochemistry, physics, calculus, mathematic, anatomy and physiology due to my interests in biophysics research.
I believe in the interactive teaching style which a teacher should adjust his/her teaching techniques according to students’ knowledge and their learning styles in order to enhance their understanding. I make my students feel comfortable so that I could learn who they are and develop my teaching style. Some students could learn a subject by, for example, repeating it while others remember it. The key of le ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I really enjoy teaching and working with people of all ages. I believe everyone is able to grasp the concept of math and science when taught effectively and with patience. I am a very easy going and friendly person, and I have been told I explain things with enough detail to understand, but not too much to bog down the information. I am a firm believer in teaching through fun riddles and games, and always relating the problem back to the student's personal life, hobbies, etc. I honestly believe everyone is able to be great at math and science, and a great educator will make a world of difference in pursuing the sciences.
As a recent graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, I am excited to begin helping high school and college students with math and science, as well as technical and essay writing. I have earned a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering, and a MS in En ... read more

I believe it is very important to be constructive and patient when it comes to teaching. I believe that I am thoughtful, patient, considerate, and compassionate when it comes to teaching. I feel that it is extremely important not to give the student all the answers, but to assist them so they are able to use reasoning to figure out the solutions themselves. I feel that it is very possible that one person can be able to help make an important impact in a students' education.

My content base focuses principally in the physical sciences and mathematics. I have tutored chemistry since my senior year in high school, and I continued to serve as an informal tutor to my classmates in my undergraduate studies. In graduate school, I have tutored college math, chemistry and physics. Between my experiences tutoring both high school and college students, I have an advanced skill set to work with adolescents and do ‘hard’ science. With my graduate degree in physics education, I know both what to teach and how to teach it when it comes to math and science. I bring tremendous energy, diverse skills, and advanced knowledge to my classroom. I bring no less with me to my tutoring.

I love teaching. I always get well prepared before I sit down with someone. A couple of hours of preparation beforehand can make the difference between a tedious, unproductive experience and one that encourages the student and makes the excited about learning. I try to help with sticking points and not to lecture. I have discovered that people tend to remember answer to their questions and if I try to explain a deeper meaning it will only bore them and make them less interested.
At the University of Illinois at Chicago I earned a bachelor's of science degree in electrical engineering and worked as a teaching assistant for three sememsters of graduate school. After leaving the university I tutored former students from my labs in math, science, engineering, and programming. I did this as hobby. I enjoy working with students. I began teaching in fifth grade when my science teacher conceded that I knew more about sharks than he did, so when we got to that lesson, I took over for two days. In tenth grade, I had an internship at my high school teaching ninth grade Global Studies. When I graduated college, I began substitute teaching while I wrote my first few novels. I have substituted in every major subject at the high school level. I have also been an adjunct professor teaching study skills and business english at a local college.
I tend to prefer lectures combined with textbook assignments as opposed to teaching either using films, powerpoint presentations or computers. I work best with motivated students, even those with lower abilities, though I teach exclusively at the high school level and above. I am patient and one of my greatest assets is in analology; I have a profound ability to take comp ... read more

When helping others, I do it two ways. I tell them how to do it and guide them through it. Other times, I show them how to do it. However, I do not do it for them. I would love to have the chance to help children succeed in their education! It would be an honor!
I graduated high school in 2000 with a local diploma and then went on to college at Utica School of Commerce. I graduated in 2002 with an Associated Degree as an Administrative Specialist. In being a student the majority of my life, I know what it is like to have educational goals and to work towards them. I have attained 2 bachelor degrees in Chemistry and Physical Science which has allowed me to gain knowledge and understanding in the fields of math and science. As a part of my curriculum, I completed 3 semesters of advanced coursework in the field of Spanish as well as a number of experimental reports and presentations allowing me to hone my writing, speech, and computer skills. I worked for 2 years in a program centered on promoting literacy in elementary aged children and in the past year worked as a chemistry tutor at the college level. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a strong proponent of critical thinking skills. For me, teaching is much more than being a content expert, but also a patient, yet demanding coach. Rote memorization is never enough; a thorough understanding of the underlying concepts and facts is crucial in achieving true mastery of a subject. The dynamic presentation style from my classroom work is brought to one-on-one tutoring as well.
My teaching experience began almost as soon as my higher education did, beginning as a Red Cross CPR instructor and then a volunteer tutor while an undergraduate. After earning my bachelor's degree, I worked with trouble youth. A desire to extend my learning led me to seek a Master's degree while working as a public school teacher. I continued with my goal to earn a doctoral degree and extended my teaching experience to the college level.

Between the years of 1978 and 1984 I was a monitor and then a supervisor in a small Christian school using the ACE curriculum. They have various programmed learning booklets teaching all of the major subjects. You are actually more of a tutor than a teacher if you work with these booklets. I have experience in the four major areas of learning which are English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. I was with students from first through twelfth grade. While I was college I had occasion to take two years of college level English and also statistics up through 600 level. The English helped when I was writing my Master’s Thesis, it was 120 pages long. My committee found it to be well written. The statistics was the basis for the thesis.
I love to help a student work their way through any difficulty they are having in any of the major subjects. It is always a challenge to direct the stu ... read more
