Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I hold a Master's degree in special education and am experienced as a K-5 special education teacher in all areas of language arts. I work with students with other health impairments, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and specific learning disabilities including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. I am certified by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators as an Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator. Orton-Gillingham is a multisensory literacy approach that includes explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, reading, spelling, and writing.

I can best describe my teaching style as flexible. I start with traditional paper-pencil methods. If further clarification is needed I use surrounding objects or tools such as Smart board, manipulatives, different colored pencils, paper-folding or anything else necessary to try.
