Experience Summary

I have been teaching elementary special education since 2014. I have a passion for my chosen career and a life-long love of all things literacy. I have taught students from K-5th grade in reading, writing, math, executive functioning skills, study skills, and social skills. I have worked with students with varying levels of ability. I am experienced in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder; other health impairments such as ADHD, anxiety, executive functioning disorders, and OCD; and specific learning disabilities such as processing disorders, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. I have received training as an Orton-Gillingham classroom educator through an Orton-Gillingham Fellow. I also recently completed a practicum and received certification through the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators at the classroom educator level.

Teaching Style

Building meaningful relationships with my students is my top priority. This helps me to personalize the learning experience. I take a multisensory approach to teaching. I like to make learning as interactive as possible for my students to ensure a high-level of engagement and maximum retention of new learning.
