I have been taking violin for many years and teaching for many years. I was Suzuki trained and because of this am very knowledgeable of the method. I hope to get my Liscense in teaching it one day. I have been giving in home and Skype lessons for the past three years now. I offer quality lessons at student prices. I currently have a studio of 8 people and am looking to take on 4 more. I have many references from world renowned teachers, plus students and parents who would vouch for my teaching. I have taught ages 5- in the 50s and believe that anyone can be taught an instrument! I love teaching children. I enjoy getting to know how each child thinks and works, and finding the best way to teach them in a way that is meaningful and gratifying. My approach is usually very methodical, and I believe a strong foundation allows for a deep and thorough understanding of the subject at hand. I consider my working relationship with my students to be a team effort, one that requires their input and communication as well as my own. I have always been a curious person and even as an adult I enjoy learning. As a result, I have a passion for sharing my knowledge and experience with others. As a teacher, I am encouraging, supportive, and patient. I think it is very important to tailor teaching methods to the individual student because people learn in different ways. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all education, and I like to use my creativity in lessons to help keep learning interesting. I earned my BA in German with a minor in music. My interest in the German language began as a child when my mother took a military assignment to Germany. In addition to the three years I lived there with my family, I completed a study abroad session during college and returned two years later as a Fulbright grantee to teach English in a German school. In total I spent six years in Germany and am quite fluent in the language.
