I perform from small ensembles all the way to solo and large Orchestra and Bands. I teach all ages and all types of students from no music experiences to the intermediate. I played the violin throughout my youth from the age of 8 until I was 20. I recently picked it back up seriously again, and currently am playing with the Athens Symphony. I studied with master teachers in my youth and have played with many ensembles and symphonies as well been a featured soloeist in my younger performing days. Suzuki and beyond 12 years serious playing and 12 years casual playing. Although I took quite a long break from playing seriously I continued to pick up the instrument and practice on my own for pleasure. As a special education major and history minor, I have learned so much about helping children succeed. I am currently working toward my bachelors degree at Brenau University. I worked at Mathnasium for two years. Mathnasium is a math tutoring center for children ranging from kindergarten to graduating high schoolers. I taught everything from basic arithmetic to calculus. I tutored calculus at the college level. I independently advertised my tutoring services. I mostly tutored Calculus I (not including linear algebra). I work as a one-on-one tutor. It is my teaching philosophy that the best tutor leads the child to discover the answer himself/herself. Thus, I employ various techniques to help the child think about the problem in a different way. For example, when teaching a child to do arithmetic, for example, adding 8, I would tell the child to add 10 and then subtract 2.
