Experience Summary
I am a second year student at the Universtiy of Georgia. I taught private violin lessons to middle schoolers from the fall of 2010 through the summer of 2011, and I myself have received seven years of private instruction. I have experienced numerous auditions, concerts, and other performances, as well as traveled with my high school chamber orchestra to Washington, D.C. and Savannah, Georgia. During the summer of 2012, I tutored Korean adults in the mechanics of English, including proper pronunciation, grammar, and conversational phrases. As for the other subject areas, I have taken many classes throughout grade school and now college that have provided me with a solid foundation in them.
Teaching Style
I try to use various activities and techniques when teaching to keep students interested. This also helps them (and me) to determine the way(s) that they learn best. I also like to ask the students first what they think the answer is or how a problem should be approached before feeding them a solution. I encourage questioning and discussions at every turn. Overall, I want to create a friendly yet effective environment for optimal teaching and learning.
My Hobbies
I enjoy baking and cooking - I love trying new recipes; reading is always good when I can find the time; and exercising is very important to me - I try to find new ways to stay active, such as running, lifting weights, and most recently racquetball (I am still learning!).
