I like working with children. I also enjoyed observing the wide variety of ways the human mind processes numbers and the mathematical process. My mathematical teaching technique is to patiently observe how a student works and adjust my style accordingly. Even though mathematics comes off to many people as a rigid discipline. A thousand ways exist to teach and illustrate the same concept.

I started out as a student tutor in the early 90's in California. I finished my MA in mathematics in 2000 at Cal State Sacramento. I have been teaching the past 10 years (including as a grad student) and have experience with all levels of high school and college level mathematics and statistics, including College Math, Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Elementary Statistics, Pre-algebra and Arithmetic. For various reasons, we all learn in different ways. Often times this is difficult to address in a classroom setting, forcing teachers to address skills by giving particular instructions (how to write a paper, how to solve an equation, etc.) thereby making education a project of memorization more so than understanding. I believe it is important for students to grasp the broad concepts of their subject manner, through their particular learning style, then applying these to specific objects as opposed to the other way around. While a graduate and undergraduate student, I've had the opportunity to teach at the University of Georgia. I've taught a wide spectrum of classes and labs ranging from Physical Oceanography to Cell Biology.
