My comments on tutoring Entrance Exams : Exams all come down to prep and organization!

I have always approached a teaching lesson as a learning opportunity. Learning is a fundamental skill. If you don't have your basic fundamentals, your student will have difficulty advancing. So, I always start with basic fundamentals such as; note taking, study skills, and comprehension! All sciences demand the ability to link concepts together. Ex. cells make up tissues, tissues make up organs, organs make up organ systems,etc.....! By understanding the make-up of cellular structures and relating that to tissue functions the students can fully understand a subject. This proves true with all subjects. By impowering the student with good base fundamentals, my students find it easier to link concepts together.

I believe that having an education is the most important component an individual can gain. I have educated individuals on a day to day basis throughout life in the areas of Science, Math, and English. I feel that you can never know too much and there is always something new to learn. Learning is an important way to gain experience in life. Everybody strives to learn something different, each learns at a different pace and level making them unique. I believe in being there for a child, listening to their needs, believing in their potential, never giving up, determination, and positive reinforcement. Being a first generation student, assisting students to achieve optimum academic excellence has been a fulfilling and rewarding experience. I have a BS degree in Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. I have tutored college Mathematics and Physics for almost 2 years. I also have leadership experience as a former represantative in Student Goverment Association and resident advisor.
I'm a hardworking individual and I love to help. But I believe that help is a two way thing. I expect the student to help me identify her or his difficulty in a particular problem that way, I can help the student solve the problem and other problems that might arise. I also encourage students to always attempt the problems and in doing so, they discover their potential if they do it right if not, they learn and do it well next time.

I like to believe that anyone can learn and understand anything. All it takes is a good teacher and effort. I like to work through a similar problem to the one the student is having a hard time with. Once he or she understands the similar problem, I then ask them to do their problem. If they still have trouble I refer back to the similar problem. Once they have correctly done their problem, we do another problem just like it. We repeat this process until they understand how to do the problems and better yet, understand the concepts and why you do certain things in a particular order to get the correct solution.

I believe teaching to be a matter of enablement. The student's immediate goal is to absorb and understand the material, and the teacher's is to make this understanding happen. The primacy of the student's process requires the teacher to mold his or her relationship to each student in subtly but unmistakably individual ways, so the same teaching personality appears to be different to different students. In my case, the approach I strive to extend to all students emphasizes patience in the face of difficulties and confidence that the student's short- and long-term goals, however difficult, are within reasonable reach.
