I began tutoring privately,as well as,for my school's learning center during the early 1990's. I have continued tutoring privately on and off for the past twenty years. I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. I also taught "at-risk" elementary age children during the summer for the Glendora Unifed School District in Glendora, CA. I tutored privately for three years from 2005-2008 in south Los Angeles County and north Orange County, CA. I can provide recommendations from these clients if you are interested. My youngest students were in first grade with my oldest students attending college.

A Little Bit About Me...

I will show the student how to do the steps of designing something but make sure that they are doing the clicking on their own computer. I won't take over there mouse or computer and show them. I feel you learn more when you physically perform the tasks yourself while you watch and listen.
I received my Bachelors of Fine Art in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Michigan. I've designed a logo and business card for a restaurant that has opened in my city and also have done some digital artwork and hand drawn art work that hangs on the walls inside. I've designed a book cover for a published book that is available online. I free lance my graphic design skills whenever I can. I currently work as an Operations Supervisor at Office Max, which is essentially the third manager in the store.

My comments on tutoring Special Education : 2-3 years as a substitute teacher.

I started out tutoring elementary students in basic math and English grammar while I attended college part time in the 1980's. I continued tutoring young students and adults in the 1990's, tutoring Basic Math, Basic and Intermediate Algebra, Basic Geometry, English Composition, Speech, Study Skills and the Sciences. In addition, tips were given to enhance test-taking skills in hard-to-Ace subjects like Economics. I have tutored for the Sickle Cell Organization in 2001, helping students catch up numerous missed assignments. I tutor when the opportunity presents itself. Last Summer-Fall I assisted a nursing student in Speech and helped with two research papers. More recently (Oct.2009-Jan.2010), I worked tutoring students grade 2-10. A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently graduated from Lawrence Technological University with a BA in graphic design, although all of my work experience has been with children. I started this experience in high school, as a teacher aide to a third grade class, creating lesson plans and working one-on-one. I have tutored in a professional tutoring center and privately for over 7 years working with children of all ages. I worked for a year as an in-home and school aid for a 6-year-old boy with autism, teaching him social and hygiene skills, as well as verbal, sign, and written language. I also worked as a therapist for a year for adolescent males with developmental disabilities and emotional impairment. Further, I have experience as a caregiver for patients with brain and spinal chord injuries in a rehabilitation center.
