I began tutoring privately,as well as,for my school's learning center during the early 1990's. I have continued tutoring privately on and off for the past twenty years. I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. I also taught "at-risk" elementary age children during the summer for the Glendora Unifed School District in Glendora, CA. I worked for a year as an in-home and school aid for a 6-year-old boy with autism, teaching him social and hygiene skills, as well as verbal, sign, and written language. I also worked as a therapist for a year for adolescent males with developmental disabilities and emotional impairment. Further, I have experience as a caregiver for patients with brain and spinal chord injuries in a rehabilitation center.

In addition, when the learning is fun, the student is more motivated to pay attention to and show interest in the material. I love making every child feel good about there abilities. I try to access how each individual learns. I then can than bring math into there world. I am a big promoter of mental math and have been very successful teaching my students to use there brains as calculators. This makes all there future math learning that much easier.
