I began tutoring in sixth grade when I voluntarily gave up my lunch recess each day to help in a first-grade classroom. I continued to tutor my peers in high school. After I graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, I was chosen by the Mayor of Bremerton to teach English in Japan for three years. Upon my return to the United States, I immediately went back to school for my teaching certificate in Elementary Education. I also worked as a Para educator in a special education classroom where I continued to use my teaching skills. I’m currently working as a guest teacher for two different school districts, teaching nearly all subjects in grades K-12. As a graduate from the University of Georgia's pharmacy school, I am qualified to tutor in the following areas: health, chemistry, biology, math... I have also played the piano since 1992, took 10 years of lessons, and would love to offer piano lessons. I tutored part time Math (algebra through calculus) and Sciences at Olympic College in Bremerton for five years. Worked with everybody, from High School students getting a jump on college, to senior citizens wanting to complete their education. Enjoy working with people of all ages who want to learn. Tend to use the Socrates style of asking questions and building on the student's response. Try to use real world examples that the student can relate to. I am patient, easy going, and considerate. Try to use some humor to put or keep the student at ease. A relaxed student will probably learn more.
