My comments on tutoring SAT - Math : I have tutored several students in math. I am a certified teacher in both math and physics.

As an engineer and I have taught planners and engineers how to use software to do calculations. I have taught GRE preparation for Kaplan (analytical and verbal reasoning) both to small classes of 3 to 7 students and individual tutoring. In 2009, I was accepted into the Educators of Change program by the Duval County School Board. I am now a certified teacher in Mathematics and Physics (grades 9-12). Better academics combined with more fun is the goal.

I consider it my duty to do what it takes to make the tutoring FUN for the person being tutored.

I won the top score for the Regents exam for Duval County in 1971 and for this I was recognized by the downtown Rotary Club. A Little Bit About Me...

While in undergrad I volunteered with a program at my school where underprivileged children would come in and have a mentor. As a mentor we would help them with homework, take them out for a trip, or just have someone to talk and ask questions to.
I absolutely believe that each person learns differently. Some children learn better by sight, others by sound. A good educator is one who is able to provide both types of learning to the child and thereafter pickup on what allows the child to learn the best.

I believe the best style of teaching is to show and walk through several different ways to solve a problem. Let the student find their favorite way to solve the problem and move from there. This method has been successful in my lessons in the past. This way the student has a basic understanding of several methods of problem solving and a basic mastery of one method.
My tutoring experience took place in college. I tutored algebra 1, pre calculus, and calculus 1. I tutored about 6 students in total.
