I have been providing tutoring and music lessons for 20 years. I studied French Horn on full scholarship at the University of Arizona. I have been playing music professionally (getting paid ;-) since I was 18. I play just about every wind instrument know to man. I have been working professionally in the health care field since 1996. I earned my bachelor's in Health Promotion in 2004 with a 4.0 GPA. I have been volunteering at my children's school for 7 years, coaching chess and soccer. I teach mathematical High School Placement Testing classes.
My teaching style is simple. I apply real-world applications to each subject helping each student find that connection for better understanding. Making the learning experience fun helping my students retain the information that is learned.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe the learning experience should always be an enjoyable one. I use humor from time to time in my teaching. A teacher can make the learning experience more enjoyable and more memorable by injecting humor into certain lessons. This has proved to be very productive, since many of my students have shown that they benefited from my instruction style by asking follow-up questions, clarifying issues in which they have confusion. I also encourage students to think on their own, so that as long as they can reasonably justify their line of reason, then they cannot be wrong.
I have earned a bachelor's degree in French, for that is the subject for which I have the most passion. I feel that my style of teaching is student centered. I am a facilitator to the learning process. Any student who chooses to learn can and will, however some students need more motivation than others. Thus, I take the time to hear about and understand what my students know and more importantly do not know and want or need to know. I also want to know how my students learn best before I start teaching them. In a general classroom setting, I try to ensure I do something for all learners. However, in a one-on-one setting, I am able to tailor my explanations to that student's learning style. A Little Bit About Me...

My forte is science and math, which are often students' least favorite subjects, due to earlier difficulty. A solid basic understanding of these subjects is critical to being an independent, engaged adult; and it's just plain cool to understand how the world works! I enjoy removing the fear and guiding the students to increase their competence and self-confidence.
