I work in two formats: 1. I teach students who already take Russian and need help with homework, tests, etc. 2. I teach those who are not enrolled in any Russian course and are looking to either improve their fluency or to uncover the basics. My lessons are well structured and focus on the following areas: - Writing - Reading - Listening - Speaking - Grammar I was born and raised in Russia and excelled at both Russian and English at school and college. I have many years of experience in creative writing in both languages as well. I use a well-developed system that is flexible enough to adjust to the needs of any student. I have worked as a teacher of science, geography, biology, math and Russian language within various cultural settings around the world. My personal drive is always to seek knowledge and personal experience, which I have happily shared with my students. I hold an advanced degree in Public Administration, which allows me to expand my general knowledge in Geography by emphasizing governmental structures, internal and external policies in a global spectrum. I have lived and worked in various societies with the range of governance from fully centralized to democratic. This personal experience enables me to not only develop an interest toward the world geography among students, but also develop understanding of various governmental institutions around the globe. I believe that education is the key to success for young students. As a teacher, I hope to motivate students in ascertaining their i

I like the students to learn how to learn. While I will guide them, test them and occasionally point them toward appropriate reference materials, I do not do the work for them....that's their job and the only way they will develop the appropriate learning skills, self-confidence and a thirst for knowledge. In the past,I've taught ESL, Health-care Occupations & Opportunities, both MRI/CT Applications. I also worked for AOL as an on-line teacher/tutor/mentor in their Academic Assistance Center.I hold two cleared teaching credentials one for Vocational Ed.and the other for Adult Ed. These qualify me to teach GED,ESL and any health-care related class. Currently,I'm working as a substitute teacher in Weld County, a grandparent mentor in Larimer County, as well as a part-time instructor at ELTC teaching courses in Medical Terminology and Phlebotomy.

During the last three years of my undergraduate college career, I was a Mathematics tutor for student athletes. Although the courses covered while tutoring ranged from basic math to calculus, I am more comfotable tutoring algebra and geometry. I earned my BA with a double major in Mathematics and Russian in just four years. After college, I helped my sister and step-sister with their math and math-related physcis problems. During my three years of formal tutoring, I was able to change my tutoring styles to fit the needs of the student. Everyone learns differently and it is important to realize and adjust my tutoring accordingly.

I love teaching children and opening them to the fun and interest of learning a language. I break down the lessons into chunks that build on one another, making certain that the student(s) acquire a solid base. I am encouraging and respectful, as well as friendly and on their side. I have taught students of many nationalities and abilities, and I am attuned to discovering individual difficulties and solutions to these obstacles in learning. I am fluent in six languages: French, Russian, Spanish, Italian, German, and English. I attended local schools and lived in those countries as a child, as well as worked overseas for seventeen years. My degrees are a BA in Comparative World Literature and an MA in Russian Literature and Linguistics. I worked as Coordinator and Trainer of the Language Tutorial Lab, training and overseeing tutors as well as tutoring in all six languages. I was a S

I strongly believe in learning by doing. I have never given a lecture or taught something 1on1 without providing practice problems or peppering students with questions. The hardest part about this is getting students to understand that it is okay to ask and answer questions. Most students I have encountered are used to simply looking at the teacher but never really interacting with them. If I ask a question and nobody gets it, I rephrase it, reteach the section that led up to the question and generally try to understand why the question is not being answered. Aside from some initial amount of memorization, students need to learn how to think through concepts and ideas, and the best way to do that, regardless of subject, is ask them things. As a rising junior at Cornell University, I was asked to TA a Chemistry course for engineers. I accepted and entered into my first teaching position.
