I am a recent college graduate and I am looking for employment within my field. I have two years experience tutoring an elementary student. I worked with a student in second grade and tutored her in both Math and English. Because her mother and I communicated regularly, she was able to tell me of improvements and areas of subjects that needed more attention. A Little Bit About Me...

While attaining my genetics degree at Ohio State, I worked at the OSU Chimpanzee Center. After graduating, I started working for the Department of Agriculture in the Weights and Measures division. It was my job to try to "trick" the scales before they could become available for commercial use. I moved back home to Coshocton when I got married. I quickly found a job teaching adults within our county's GED program. I easily became the math and science "guru" with my background and began getting my Masters in Education from Muskingum University. I believe in starting with the basics in all things. Reading starts with Phonics, and writing starts with Spelling and Vocabulary, as well as old-fashioned handwriting skills. An absolute staple of learning, in my opinion, is frequent reading for pleasure – whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, novels or comic books. I am patient and love to teach, even reluctant learners. I remember what it was like to not want to sit around and do schoolwork, so I don't expect children to be eager to do it.
