Over many years as an IT person, I worked with clients, one on one, teaching them how to get their computer to do what they want it to do. Often times, the client would be very frustrated. I needed to first, relieve the frustration – then determine what needed to be done to rectify the situation (through a question and answer processes). I enjoy teaching adults as well as high school students. I do not have much training teaching below junior high; however, I am confident that I could successfully teach math or language. Although, I don't mind the traditional classroom setting, I am quite used to instructing on a one-to-one basis. Our GED programs are completely individualized for learners to move at their own pace, and I encourage this type of teaching style when manageable. I had access to 2 long-term teaching positions. The first was for high school special education in history and the second was for 8th grade language arts. I have a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies, which simply means that I couldn't decide between the other two areas of study I was considering: Early Childhood Education and History. I home schooled my youngest brother from the time he was in the sixth grade until he finished high school, so I have fairly broad experience in regards to subjects.
