My comments on tutoring Spanish : I have taken 2 years of college Spanish. I have been implementing Spanish into my classroom curriculum for over 10 years. Spanish is one of my top subjects! At 16 I decided I needed to see the world so I moved to Argentina as an exchange student. I spent a year learning both the culture and language of the country. I was able to travel a lot and really felt like a member of their society. I have a bachelors degree in Spanish and I also spent a second 6 months in Costa Rica and an additional month in Peru.

I believe that a lack of success in academic's is usually attributed to one of two things; a lack of motivation(it's not fun enough) or a misunderstanding of the fundamentals(which brings a feeling of hopelessness). This is particularly true in foreign languages. Many times a person must rewire their brain when it comes to learning a new language. My goal in tutoring is to help students not just fix a problem but create an overall understanding of what they are learning. I also like to focus on making goals and increasing motivation to learn. Learning never ceases; so, why should you?

My teaching style is a mixture of strict and lenient. I try to form a connection with students and apply that to my teaching method (i.e. incorporating a similar hobby in a question in order for the student to understand the material better). I expect my students to give me and the other students respect- never speaking while others are speaking, no disruptions, ect.
