Experience Summary
I have been teaching and tutoring students for more than 20 years. I currently provide online as well as in person tutoring to students in the areas of phonics and reading. I am an ESL teacher for a couple of online companies in China. I work as a substitute teacher for the public school system where I live and I am also pursuing a degree in Spanish at Arizona State University. I previously taught in a small private school that I founded. The school served students in grades kindergarten through second grade and it was founded with the idea of promoting literacy through the encouragement of world language learning. I teach beginning and emergent literacy skills in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Mandarin Chinese. I have also taught in two charter schools over a period of 15 years. During that time I served as a teacher in various areas, such as Kindergarten, First Grade, PreK, and Arabic. Prior to that, I served as the lead teacher for students in grades K-8. I have done in-home tutoring, both one to one as well as small groups. I also implemented my own after-school and summer school tutoring programs in which I tutored students in grades K-6 in their homes, my home, schools that I've worked in, and rented facilities. I have also been teaching Arabic on a platform called "Outschool" for a year and a half.

I love to write. Every year my class participates in the creation of our own class book, written and illustrated by students. I am very secure in my writing skills. I have received high scores on writing exams.

I have been trained and I am experienced with teaching ESL to both children and adults. I am very secure in my English skills. I have also completed training with the Minnesota Literacy Counsel.

I am very secure in my reading skills and I have received high scores on all of my competency exams.

Arabic
My expertise is most appropriate for those studying their first year of Arabic. I have taken two years of college Arabic and I have been studying on my own for more than five years. I have been teaching Arabic at the elementary level (grades K-2) for 3 years.
Chinese
I have taken 1 semester of college Mandarin. I have been studying on my own for one year. I currently teach beginning Mandarin skills at the elementary level (grades K-2).
Spanish
I have taken 2 years of college Spanish. I have been implementing Spanish into my classroom curriculum for over 10 years. My translation ability is better than my speaking. I have passed many Spanish proficiency tests. I am comfortable helping at an elementary or beginning level.

This is just one of my personal favorites. I love to write. This has been my favorite subject throughout my entire educational career, beginning in elementary school. I encourage all students to write, become comfortable with writing and learn how to express themselves through writing.
