Everything in life has a Sign! What is you sign?

I am hands on and easy going. I make learning fun, the people I have tutored in the past have truly learned and remembered everything I have shown them. I find easy funny ways to remember things.
I started learning sign language when I was eight years old. I became friends with a boy who was deaf, we grew up together. I then went on to complete my degree in American Sign Language from Bishop State. After Bishop State, i moved on to atten the University of South Alabama for elementary education. I interpret every year at Bayfest. This is a great experience, it is fun and exciting. I have a youtube account and a blog site I use for sign language. I also have books and videos all materials needed to learn the language.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe learning should be fun and creative and that children should have an environment that is friendly and caring to learn in. I think teachers should be patient with their difficulties and take time to give them the one on one attention that they need. I like thematic units and hands on activities. I like to teach reading and english. I like to use whole group, small groups, paired reading activities. I like to use magazines, newspapers, children's books and other materials that interest the students to teach reading.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked both as a substitute teacher and as a certified teacher for around 15 years. I have taught a variety of different courses. I was certified to teach all sciences grades 7-12. However my certification has expired. I have taught both in the private and public sectors of education. I graduated a member of Kappa Delta Pi, as an international honor society. I graduated with a 3.9 G.P.A. I have also worked as a tutor many times within my career. I also worked with troubled teens as a therapeutic foster parent.
