Everything in life has a Sign! What is you sign?

I am hands on and easy going. I make learning fun, the people I have tutored in the past have truly learned and remembered everything I have shown them. I find easy funny ways to remember things.
I started learning sign language when I was eight years old. I became friends with a boy who was deaf, we grew up together. I then went on to complete my degree in American Sign Language from Bishop State. After Bishop State, i moved on to atten the University of South Alabama for elementary education. I interpret every year at Bayfest. This is a great experience, it is fun and exciting. I have a youtube account and a blog site I use for sign language. I also have books and videos all materials needed to learn the language.

I greatly enjoy seeing the students achieve their learning goals and their yearly progress In 2000, I began to teach special education and teaching special needs children with learning disabilities. I taught grades 3rd-5th in a self-contained, reading, math, and language skills and middle school grades 6th- 8th. After Hurricane Katrina, I moved to Pensacola, Fl. I taught regular ed. 3rd grade, all subjects,special ed., 3rd-5th and SRA reading classes, high school grades 9-12, career ed., health, and reading to behaviorally challenged students. Following the birth of my third child, I taught at her pre-school and caught the teaching "bug". I then completed a graduate program in Elementary Education, taught for one year in the public school system in Florida and then taught for one year in Alabama. I have the ability to help children struggling in reading to make great strides and as a result, gain the self-confidence to do well in school. I believe in a "hands-on" approach as we all learn better by doing than watching. My goal is for a child to like school, like learning, and know he/she can do anything given a little hard work.
