I like to have visuals. They are important no matter what age. i use powerpoint, pictures, think of stories, and try to get the students involved as much as they can. People either learn, by seeng, doing, or both, so it is good to teach using all of the learning tools.
As a business major I learned alot about the importance of language and communication. I took classes in english, and writing. I was a tutor for over 100 students for 2 years in finance and taght a class twice a week on Microsoft Excel. I've gained experience with teaching in an array of ways. Firstly, I'm a recent graduate from BYU-Idaho in Piano Performance earning my Bachelor of Musical Arts. Throughout my training as a professional pianist I studied piano pedagogy and now have a functioning piano studio of my own. If they are willing, and if they are taught correctly, every child can learn. No two children are the same, and should not be taught as such. There are so many different ways to teach and understand a concept, and I try to search out the technique that best fits a child in need. I am a firm believer that there is nothing we “can’t do” if we are taught in such a way that we can truly understand. To turn on the light, you must simply find the right switch. I had a son with some special needs. I had to help him with his math throughout most of his junior high and high school years.
