My comments on tutoring Pre-Calculus : I am a certified high school teacher in Kentucky currently working on my PhD in instruction and administration with emphases in mathematics education and assessment. I have 16 years of high school teaching experience and taught Pre-Calc several times over those years. I also served as math department chair, a mentor teacher, and primary curriculum writer. After earning a Masters Degree in Math from UK, I accepted my first teaching position at Northern Kentucky Community College where I served as chair of the Math Dept from 1962-66. I returned to UK to pursue a doctorate in math and was assistant to the chair of the math department. During this time, I taught 2 undergraduate courses per semester from 1966-77. In 1977, I became Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, a position I held until I retired in 2005. While serving as Assistant Dean, I often taught evening classes composed of both undergraduates and non-traditional students.
