A Little Bit About Me...

I have always found myself adept at teaching. I have a great deal of patience and a genuine fondness for instruction. As a journalism major from UF, I gained extensive writing, research and grammatical skills. I am a proficient typist and have an intimate knowledge of computers and various programs. I am grounded in functional math: an essential skill in reporting on the economy and science. I went up to pre-calculus in high school and took both Algebra and Logic in college. Current events and history were both fundamental in my schooling. My recent tutoring history is not formal, but I have helped many students and peers edit papers, understand their math homework and prepare for tests.

A Little Bit About Me...

Since 1991, I have been tutoring and teaching children in Florida, California and Costa Rica. In addition to being a tutor, I have worked with children in many capacities from after-school program coordinator to curriculum writer and summer camp counselor and instructor. I earned my BA degree from Florida A&M University in Visual Arts and History and my Master's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in Dance Ethnography. Instructing my own ten year old daughter has also further enhanced my ability to work one-on-one with individual students. A Little Bit About Me...

I earned my bachelor degree in Communications and Creative Writing (double major), which has attributed to my excellent verbal communication skills as well as my writing skills. I've worked in a variety of environments from a newspaper to a radio station, in addition to my course work which emphasized research and reading for comprehension. As the poetry editor of FSU's literary magazine and the assistant editor of FSU's newspaper, I organized others into creative and critical ways of thinking and processing.
My mother is a reading development teacher. She works with Title 1 children every day in her job.
