When in school I did not like that my major was Accounting. I did not enjoy my classes or teachers, now out of school I enjoy my job and accounting more than I ever thought I would. I like to teach and show students how accounting effects their everyday life. Accounting has so many real life applications that the book can not show you, and I enjoy having students enjoy accounting as much as I do.
When I graduated from Bradley University I was looking for ways to keep up with the accounting functions. One way that really helped me was tutoring. My mentoring style is geared to the personality of each student, and I'm very engaged in what he or she needs. I fully understand that there IS such a thing as "Math Anxiety" (that hinders students, not just in Math, but other subjects too), so we work hard to overcome it! My students at Palm Beach State are blown away that on Day1 of each course I play a Jimmy Buffet song called "Math Sucks" and allow them to voice agreement with it.
