A Little Bit About Me...

After earning my BS in Elementary Education from Indiana University I took a teaching position with INSCCAP in 2008. My primary responsibility is to assess development and individualized education needs of the children in my class. I continually annecdote my students abilities and based off of those observations I create activities and lessons that focus on the subjects/ skills I see my students struggle with. In 2009 I became a homebound instructor with Monroe County's School System. I am responsible for working with children who hold IEPs and can no longer work successfully in a regular classroom. I have worked with all age groups, but I have found my strength to be with Elemenary School aged children.

More About This Tutor...

For the past two years, I have been teaching journal-writing and college classes at the Louisville Comprehensive Care MS Center. Prior to that, I have tutored students ages 7-40 in a various set of topics, primarily math and business subjects.
My preferred style of teaching is student-lead. I believe in the Socratic method, but appreciate following a curriculum, as well. I volunteer at a Montessori school and I know that getting learners of all ages interested and excited about a topic is the key to retention.

As a graduate with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a Rank I in Computer Education, I fill that I am highly qualified for this position. I have taught reading from various grade groups ranging from kindergarten on up to fourth grade. I have taken struggling fourth graders who were reading on first grade level and brought them up to their grade level.
