I have been teaching guitar lessons for a year now. I have just graduated from Colorado State University Pueblo with my Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. In my education at CSU I have also acquired six credit hours in education classes and observed 60 hours in public schools. In my experience as a musician, I have found that teaching a subject I love can really inspire students to excel. It's necessary to spread our knowledge to others. My specialty is music, but I love to teach in general because kids need good mentors. Each child is different so I use an individualized approach to my teaching styles. We all learn differently whether we are auditory, visual, or kinesthetic learners. I asses the student and provide the material/exercises necessary in order to create the best learning experience possible.

I am currently both a adjunct Accounting instructor and a Accounting tutoring instructor with DeVry University. In previous years, I have been a full-time Accounting instructor at a community college. My full-time job is that of Associate Campus Director at a private school in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I have taught all accounting courses applicable to a Bachelor's degree, from Accounting Principles to Intermediate and Cost Accounting. I am also certified and have taught on-line accounting courses. My teaching style is "hands-on" instruction. I enjoy teaching in a classroom environment. Face to face instruction supplemented with course materials is my preference. It's important to link the book and the homework with proper instruction. Working through examples and using illustrations also enhances learning and comprehension.

I recently completed two years of teaching Physical Science in a secondary school in Namibia as a Peace Corps volunteer. Prior to that I earned a BS in Computer Science which included a mathematics minor and courses in physics and chemistry. I tutored throughout my time in the Peace Corps, my undergraduate studies and my high school years. As a classroom teacher I quickly learned to engage each student individually. I prefer tutoring because I can tailor my instruction to a specific student. Children have different learning styles so it is my responsibility as the instructor to adapt lessons to maximize learning for each child. Ideally I am able to guide a student to realize concepts in their own terms rather then dictate facts to them.

From the time I was in 4th grade, I have always had a strong passion to teach our young people and assist in developing the next generation that will run this country.
