A Little Bit About Me...

I taught in public school and private. While doing so and during summers, I tutored on my own. I got married in 1986, had three children and stayed out of the classroom for a while. I homeschooled my own children and began an ACCREDITED highschool for home schoolers. I taught and tutored all subjects. I have also worked with several learning disabled children. I can teach/tutor pretty much any subject ages K-college. I have also worked in the Writing Lab at Clayton State College. I feeel very qualified for this job.
I love children of all ages, including Middle School and Highschool. I do not alweats go by the book. I do what I feel is best for that particular child's learning style. I teach outside the box and encourage learning rather than straight memorization. I help children love learning.

I would love to say that I have only one teaching style but I cannot tell you that. What I can say is that my teaching style will adapt to the student. When you have a student that catches on fast you are able to test their ability to understand what was taught in numerous ways. However for a student that may not grasp a concept as easily a more structured approach may be a more beneficial tool. I am capable of adapting to the student, the goal is for them to understand.

My teaching style is based on the student’s learning style. Each child is different and may require different teaching methods to facilitate learning. Some children are more visual and may require more interactive exercises to learn. I do not believe in spoon-feeding information to children but taking the time to ensure that they fully grasped the concept of a problem and are able to think through a solution on their own. I have loved to teach every since I was a young girl playing school with my younger siblings. Since that time I have observed several different teaching and learning styles.
