My comments on tutoring Grammar : I just finished my first year at CWI and am currently taking English 102 - took predominately English, editing, computer, marketing, and math classes. I also home schooled my children for ten years, was a teacher's assistant for six years in elementary schools, and taught first grade in a small private school last year.

Learning should be fun, yet focused. I also use the Socratic Method which asks questions instead of answers in order to invoke student thinking.

Don't tell me 2+2=4. Tell me WHY 2+2=4.

Although I wish I could count the endless amount of time I spent playing teacher as a child, I know parents are looking for more expierence than an eight year old and her dolls. I have tutored children, ages ranging from eight to fourteen, off and on for three years. I worked with Upward Bound students while I was at Idaho State University for two summers. Upward Bound was a program designed for high school students who needed extra classes in order to graduate. The students lived in the dorms at Idaho State University, and I was responsible for making sure they were behaving, as well as tutoring them in subjects they needed help in.
