A Little Bit About Me...

I have ten years of experience as an ESOL teacher. I began my career in Costa Rica in 2001 and upon returning to Sarasota began working for Sarasota County Technical Institute. I then moved to Barcelona, Spain to obtain the Cambridge CELTA certificate from International House and spent the next eight years teaching classes to all ages and levels. I have been a fluent Spanish speaker for over 15 years and although not a a native speaker, I and others consider me to be a fluent speaker and writer of Spanish. I am a translator and intepreter, creative writer and have experience tutoring professionally as well as a volunteer.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love using manipulatives with all subjects. It makes learning fun even for those that are frustrated with the subject. Since everyone learns in a different way I need to teach the material in different ways to find out which way is best for that student. By using manipulatives with verbal directions and giving examples for them to see covers the bases of physical, visual, and aural learning students. I was not very good in certian subjects like math in elementary school and I had to come up with ways to learn the material on my own. This has helped me to teach students that are like me when I was that age. I can relate to how they are struggling and their frustration in not keeping up with the rest of the class.
